Testimonials

'Jenny is fabulous. She knows so much and delivers it in a laid back friendly way, without making you feel as though you are doing anything wrong. We are attending a 6-week group course and loving it, we are getting tons of information and feel the course is fantastic value for money. Jenny also goes out of her way to make sure things are going well between lessons.'

Jen & the hounds
Are you living with a dog who is barky, lungey, or bitey toward other dogs?

Or maybe a teenage dog who has started to find other dogs more interesting than you, and their ears no longer seem to work?
If you are fed up of feeling...

Embarrassed?
Out of control?

Anxious?
Like you're treading on eggshells?

You're in the right place!

Thank you so much for visiting my website!

Hi, I am Jenny Barker. I am a qualified and fully insured dog trainer specialising in dog-dog aggression and social skills. I aim to enable you to develop training skills and an understanding of your dog that allows you to live together in harmony. This means less stress and a more 'livable with' dog!

It's important to me that you resolve any issues that you have in a way that you and your dog are comfortable with and which maintains your relationship which is why I work with Least Invasive, Minimally Aversive principles. This approach enables dogs and their owners to feel more optimistic, connected, and empowered while having effective results.

My journey into working with dogs with difficult behaviour stems from my first 2 dogs rescue dogs. I have lived with problems including human-directed aggression, dog-directed aggression, resource guarding, high prey drive (and nonexistent recall), separation anxiety, and complex anxiety resulting in self-mutilation. So trust me when I say, I understand the struggle! More recently I have had the exhausting joy of the blood, sweat, and tears that come from living with a teenage dog!

I am neurodivergent so I relate strongly to dogs and their people who sometimes feel overwhelmed by the world; having experience of anxiety and panic attacks the importance of emotional well-being is of value to me for both dog and owner alike. I aim to work flexibly to help people of all abilities make progress and enjoy their time with their dog.

Some 'fun facts' about me...

  1. The most unusual species I have trained: It's a toss-up between a pig and a Magpie!

  2. The animal species I am most scared of: Rabbits... (yup, you'd better believe it!)

  3. My lifestyle: I am Neurodivergent, a part-time carer for my dad, and I have been vegan for over 10 years (after working at a sanctuary for ex-farm animals).

  4. Dog-related hobbies: I love going to Mantrailing and Rally workshops with my own dogs.

  5. Biggest obsession: Taking photos of EVERYTHING. Life is short, and it's good to keep memories.

  6. What animals have I lived with? Cats, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, guinea pigs, hens, horses, and, of course, dogs!

''Honestly, Jen is a miracle worker, she came a couple of years ago and solved some issues instantly. Recently our dog was getting more reactive, especially to the door and visitors, and within an hour Jen has already made such a difference. She is calm, amazing with the dog, and just fantastic, thanks Jen.''

''The follow-up support from the 1-2-1 sessions has been fantastic and Jenny is always there for words of encouragement and tips and tricks. Jenny has encouraged us to look into medical reasons for behavioural issues and supported us in this process.

Our life is now a lot more manageable, we’re starting to be able to do “regular” dog and human activities!

Jenny has helped us to understand how our dog is thinking and how to set him up for success to make everyday life much more enjoyable.

We would 100% recommend Jenny to anybody looking for advice, training, guidance and help with their pooch.''

'Feral Hearts'

To recognise the true nature of each domesticated dog and work with their innate behaviours rather than against them.

To love them as they are.
